We had our first named storm for Hurricane Season 2006: Alberto. On Monday, it was raining horribly on my way to work. I only have a 10 minute drive, but I could barely see. When I finally got here, despite the umbrella, I managed to get completely soaked. It rained pretty much the entire day. We did need the rain, but it was still inconvenient, I had to cancel my lunch plans and just stay here and be hungry.
On Monday evening, I was hanging out at home when I noticed I had some voicemails. My phone hadn't rang, so I had no idea who it was from, and I actually checked them. It was my supervisor calling to tell me that our office building had been closed for Tuesday.
I thought it was kind of strange, because Alberto wasn't really anywhere near us, and wasn't even a strong storm. But hey, a day off is a day off. Around 9, I took a look in the freezer and realized the only alcohol we had was a nearly empty bottle of Captain Morgan's.
Mike and Shane came with me, as I drove through torrential rain to the liquor store. We each made purchases, and then came back to the house to get our drink on... lol.
Alberto never became a hurricane, as was predicted, but still gave us some strong winds Monday evening.
