I got a call from Shane on Friday. He was not feeling well and wanted me to pick him up from his job after work. So, I did. I had been planning on going to gay days at Disney. I had originally thought that my friend, Casey was going to Disney, and he had invited me along. I also had an invitation from my ex, Cody, who works at Disney.
I talked to Case briefly on Friday, while I was waiting for Shane, and he said he would call me back when he had more details. Shane and I went to the mall. I needed a haircut badly, and felt much better afterwards.
When I got home, I tried to call Cody and didn't get an answer. I was kinda pissed about that, as he was all about me coming out to Orlando for the weekend. But anyways, I didn't hear back from either Casey or Cody.
Nick had called and asked if I had wanted to go to Georgie's that night, and I decided I would, though it took me a while to get ready to actually go. I was feeling kind of crappy, as I'd gotten caught in the rain the day before, and came down with a slight cold.
So, I didn't let Nick know what was going on, and by the time I decided to actually leave, he was already in bed. So, I went with just Walter. Alibi wasn't too busy, but Walt and I hung out at the back bar and it was a pretty good time. We danced for a minute, mainly because Walt wanted to dance with this guy Jeremy.
Afterwards, we went to the St. Pete Diner with Jeremy and his 3 girlfriends. It was interesting, as that place always is during the bar rush. Walt and I left there and came back to Swaying Palms. We had some cocktails and talked for a really long time about a lot of things.
I slept for quite a while on Saturday, I didn't feel very motivated, and was upset about something that isn't worth mentioning here. I had asked Nick at some point very late Friday night, or early on Saturday morning, to see if he'd like to go to Parliament House Saturday evening. I volunteered Shane to DD, but when I talked to him on Saturday morning, he was still feeling ill. Thankfully, Walter was all about going.
So, Nick came over and we hung out for a little bit while waiting for Walt to get ready. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous about hanging out with Nick at all. It had been so long since we even really spoke.
Walt drove his car, and the three of us were off to Orlando. We found Parliament House without too much trouble, though we did get in some traffic due to some event that was just ending nearby. Parliament House was absolutely packed. There wasn't parking anywhere, so we had to park way down the street in a really shady area. Well, most of Orlando is really shady... so...
Anyways, we got to the door only to discover that it was $25 to get in, which, we all thought was ridiculous, but we had driven all that way, so we paid, and got drinks. Taylor Dane was performing, but I'm not really familiar with her, so I wasn't too impressed. I did have a really good time though. I had a surprisingly good time hanging out with Nick also.
Walter ran into someone he went to high school with, which was totally random, since Walt is from Detroit. He introduced Simian to us and when we went to leave, Simian came with us in Walt's car and we drove to where he was staying, which was a 3 bedroom townhouse that he and 3 of his girlfriends were renting. It was totally cool to not have to drive back to Tampa that late. We hung out at their place, met the girls, when they came home, and drank some more.
While I was outside smoking a cigarette, Nick came out with me and we were talking. He told me something similar to what Matt had said to me a month ago. He told me that even though we haven't spoken for a while, he felt like I was one of the people in his life who truly cared about him. It really meant a lot to hear that from him...
Unfortunately, while we were outside, he asked me if I still talked to or hung out with Jay. It hadn't occured to me until then that he didn't know. I told him gently that Jay had passed away, and at first he didn't believe me.
The next day we came back around noon. In the afternoon, Shane and Mike went to the store and bought stuff to Barbecue. Alix came over with this awesome dog she had just adopted. I forget what kind it was, but she said it was a $2000 dog that she had gotten for $15 at the shelter.
Shane cooked, we all ate, hung out for a while, it was a good time. :)
Today I had a doctor's appointment early this morning and then have just been hanging out around the house doing laundry. Walter has been painting the kitchen and I helped him move things around and attempted to organize/clean things. Our countertops came on Friday, but part of the counter had the marble's grain going in a different direction, so parts of it had to be recut.
