So, yesterday, I had someone come to my job and replace my car window. While the guy was doing that, I sat on the curb and was talking on the phone. I noticed how bald my tires are. :( It's always something, I guess. But anyways, I have a window now, so I feel relieved at least in that aspect.
After work, I went home to the chaos. Mike, Shane and I went and did the soon to be very familiar Home Depot / Lowes circuit. We pretty much decided on a brand and style of tile for the kitchen. We are doing a 3 size, 3 color pattern. The floor will be the three colors, dark, mid and light tones, the counter tops are a granite composite material that Mike has 2 colors under consideration at the moment.
I have a 3D movie animation program on my iBook that I've never really used other than to insert some of the stock characters and manipulate them. I just got the great idea to use that to enter in the dimensions of the room, cabinets, etc. And render 3D drawings of the potential color combinations. The program takes forever to render the scenes, but it would be worth it. I don't think it would take me too long to set up either...
Anyways, so we got all the product info and Mike's gonna crunch some numbers regarding square footage (350 sq/ft for the kitchen) and see what he comes up with. We faced the complex task of figuring out how many tiles we will need of each size and color, as well as how many cartons of each to purchase. Of course, this isn't actually that complex, but we were at Home Depot at the time... so yeah.
So, we're getting a dumpster on Friday, thank goodness. Aparently a large delivery is arriving today. Plywood and a material called Perma-Base, as well as some floor joists, I believe. Perma-Base is a base material for spreading the mud that the tile will be set in. It will be so nice when we have actual floor again. lol
On another subject, I had to renew the hosting for my various sites. I had decided a while ago to go with a new company, dreamhost.com. Dreamhost offers much better features, more space, more bandwidth, more powerful and flexible tools for designing web aps. So now I am faced with the daunting task of FTP'ing all of my files, backing them up and transferring them to new servers at Dreamhost. I will also have to export all of my databases, create new ones on the new server, and import all of the old date. BTW, if anyone would like to use dreamhost, contact me, and I will give you a referral code. :)
Currently I have godaddy.com hosting. Can I make a suggestion to anyone considering godaddy? Don't do it! Their service is crappy, their features suck, tech support is just plain annoying to deal with, not to mention their CEO, Bob Parsons, and his annoying ass blog.
So, now, with that out of the way, I'm not sure if I'm gonna go out this evening or not. I haven't been out on a Thursday in a while. We'll see, I suppose. Anyways, that's it for now. Check swayingpalms.net later on, I should be updating the blog with some new pictures sometime later today.
